Ann Marie Cancellare Senftinger, 98, passed away peacefully at House Of The Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ on April 28, 2025. Ann was born in New York City on August 6, 1926.
Ann was a devoted wife to the late George A. Senftinger. During their 71 year marriage they first resided in Bronx, NY, then moved to New Milford, NJ where they lived for the next 52 years until moving to Hackettstown, NJ. Together they built a loving home that became the center and heart of their family.
Ann graduated Jane Addams High School in Bronx, NY focusing on music and art. After graduation she pursued a career as a fashion designer. She last worked for Algene Sportswear in New York City. Although she retired from fashion designing after the birth of her only daughter, her love of art and fashion was hardwired into everything she touched. Ann was an accomplished pianist and artist who loved sharing her talents to bring joy to others. She enjoyed entertaining and was a gracious hostess. The family especially savored converging at her house on Christmas. All were welcome.
As Ann played her baby grand piano, everyone would gather around and sing. Ann brought people together with her warm, loving nature, combined with an energetic personality and sense of humor. Her home was filled with food, family, friends and laughter. However, it is her legacy of love that will live on in the lives of those she touched during her 98 years.
Ann is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Ann Schmitt and son-in-law, Robert W. Schmitt. Ann was proud Nana to Peter R. Schmitt (wife Melissa), Richard W. Schmitt (wife Jordan) and Great Nana to Vivian and Felicity.
She was predeceased by her parents Rocco and Cecilia Cancellare and siblings, Marie, Peggy, Richard & Chester.
Ann is remembered with love by nieces Patricia, Carol, Theresa & Ann and numerous great & grand nieces, and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mark’s RC Church in Long Valley on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11 am with interment to follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery in Green Township.
