Allen T. Lancaster, Sr., 74, of Byram, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 at Newton Medical Center. Born on January 24, 1951, in New York, NY, to the late William and the late Kathryn (Martyr) Lancaster, Allen lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, dedication to family, and a love for his community.
Allen was a true entrepreneur at heart. Over the years, he owned and operated an auto body shop, a warehouse installation business, and pursued several other ventures. He also enjoyed operating heavy equipment. Later in life, Allen lent his time and experience as a volunteer consultant with Wild West City, helping support its operations and offering guidance grounded in his practical expertise and generous spirit.
Allen was also a man of deep and abiding faith. He was a devoted parishioner of Sparta Evangelical Free Church, where he attended regularly and built lasting relationships with fellow members of the congregation. His faith was a constant in his life, offering strength, purpose, and joy. Allen’s commitment to living out Christian values could be seen in his generosity, humility, and compassion toward others.
As a Christian, Allen was a devoted family man. Allen is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Christine Lancaster, his two sons, Allen Lancaster, Jr., and Eric Lancaster and wife Amy, three brothers, William Lancaster and wife Toni, Glenn Lancaster and wife Anna, John Lancaster and wife Betsy, two grandchildren, Zeke and Hope, and twelve nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy lives on through them.
A passionate supporter of youth athletics, Allen co-founded and coached the Allamuchy Redskins youth football program alongside his father. His influence helped shape the lives of many young athletes, and his leadership in the community was deeply felt. He also had a lifelong enthusiasm for racing, especially in the small block modified division, a passion that brought him both excitement and camaraderie.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 7 from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, August 8 at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Thuen officiating. Burial will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeland Emergency Squad, PO Box 84, Andover, NJ 07821 in memory of Allen.
Allen’s life was one of strength, service, and sincerity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
