Lorie Ann Getchius Mecsey

Lorie peacefully passed away at home, in her pink room, surrounded by her loved ones.

Lorie was born at Newton Medical Center, New Jersey. She grew up in Hackettstown where she graduated from Hackettstown High School.

She is survived by her husband, Greg Mecsey; her mother, Terry Young Armstrong; her father Peter Getchius; her stepfather, Rick Armstrong; her sister, Tammy Getchius Humphrey; her brother-in-law, Bruce Humphrey; her children, Amanda, Alex, and Nick; her niece, Jordyn; her nephew, Tyler; her grandsons, Kyler and Hunter; and her beloved dog, Gryphon.

Lorie was a tough spirit who faced cancer with incredible strength for 10 years. She can rest now and be at peace. She lived life to the fullest and left an imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew her. Let Lorie live on in our hearts through laughter, love and the memories we shared with her. She was unforgettable and will be deeply missed by so many.

Lorie had a love for the outdoors and created the most beautiful home and backyard landscape. She took great pride in being a mother and grandmother, lovingly known as May May. Fall was her favorite season, and being the best dressed was her gift. Lorie had a feisty, unforgettable spirit that was uniquely her own. She was strong-willed, full of personality, and never afraid to speak her mind. Lorie’s life was filled with love, family, laughter, beauty, and memories that will stay with us forever.

Interment will be private at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, New Jersey, (Grave #270, Section Q, Row #5).
