Cornelia B. Groover, 98, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on October 31, 2026 with her loving daughter Susan by her side. Born in Inwood Iowa, Cornelia was the daughter of the late Samuel & Gertrude Dykstra Bakker.

Cornelia retired many years ago from Centenary College, Hackettstown as waitress. She and her family moved to Hackettstown in 1942 and purchased a farm where M&M Mars currently resides. She graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1946 where she excelled in Basketball. She often spoke of walking miles to get to school carrying a tin lunch pail. “Katy” as she was also known was a true country girl, helping out on the farm, doing daily chores and attending to the family garden. In 1950, Katy married her beloved late husband Carl Groover.

Katy is survived by two children, Susan Steinmann of Neffs, Pa. & Carl Gruver Jr. of Walton, NY. Eight loving grandchildren and three precious Great Grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 10:30 am until 12;00 pm noon at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
