Michael J. Robba, 69, died unexpectedly due to COVID-19 on the 19th of April, 2020 in Parsippany, New Jersey.
Michael is survived by his mother, Ida Robba (Sewell), East Brunswick, New Jersey, his daughter Kimberly Schaffer and her husband Jason, Independence Township, New Jersey, his four grandsons Noah, Ari, Eden, and Ryan Schaffer, Independence Township, New Jersey, his sisters Dolores Ordille, Monroe Township, New Jersey, Patricia Nugent and her husband Don, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Barbara Dipierro and her husband William Jr., Monroe Township, New Jersey, his brother Steven Robba, South Plainfield, New Jersey, as well as, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father James Robba and his wife Shelley Robba (Rieser).
Michael was born on March 25, 1951 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to James and Ida Robba. He graduated from East Brunswick High School and went on to study pre-med at Fairleigh Dickinson University before working for Bristol-Myers Squibb as a senior supervisor. He married Shelley Rieser in 1974 and over time had a daughter Kimberly. His daughter remembers him as a quiet yet extroverted, intelligent, humorous, kind, and gentle person. He had a wise guy sense of humor and perfect smile. Music was the essence of his being. He played the saxophone, guitar, and tinkered with the autoharp. He was devoted to his loving wife Shelley and took care of her during her battle with cancer.
A private funeral was held on April 23, 2020 at the German Valley Rural Cemetery in Long Valley, New Jersey. Memorial donations can be made to: Save the Music Foundation, P.O. Box 2096, New York, NY 10108-2096.
