Adalberto “Al” Castelomendes (Al), age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June16th, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born February 14, 1944 in San Fernando Buenos Aires, Argentina to Maria Castelomendes (Poges) and Gabino Castelomendes. He was predeceased by his parents Gabino and Maria, sister Clemencia, and brother, Alcides Rodolfo.
He spent his formative years in Argentina but immigrated to the United States in the early 1970’s. Al made a life through tireless hard work for himself and his family, proudly calling Hackettstown home. He may be best known as Al, owner of “Al’s Pizza in Belvidere, New Jersey. There, you would find him behind the counter, always smiling, eager to start up a conversation with his customers, treating each one like family. He would boast to anyone who would listen about his beloved grandchildren, the latest soccer game, Lionel Messi, and fishing.
His deep Christian faith and love for his wife and family guided him on Earth. He was a warm and gentle man, always willing to help others in need. That generosity, caring for others, and deep commitment to family and faith are his legacy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 52 years, Josefina, their daughter Maria and son-in-law John Lepore of White Twp. Son, Diego and daughter-in- law Saskia Castelomendes of Hackettstown, brother-in-law, Adrian Aloise and sister-law Sandra Aloise of Charlotte, NC, sister-in-law Carmen Stancati (Aloise) and brother-in-law Emilio Stancati of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Grandchildren; Dominick, Valerie, Nico, Kai, and Luna. Nieces and nephews; Daniella, Johanna, Alejandra, Graciella, Joel and Ezequiel, Roberto, Carlos, and Alejandro.
The funeral will be held 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 20 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Pastor Moices Gomez officiating.
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 20 from 4 – 8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..
