Richard Francis Brancaleone passed away May 10th after battling cancer at the age of 78. Richard was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather (“Gpa” as he was called).
Richard was born in Brooklyn in 1947, raised in Maspeth Queens and lived and raised his family in Byram NJ. He worked hard commuting to New York City most of his life but worked harder for his family, putting them first. He was a fun loving man that would talk to anyone. He loved to be active and would still play basketball and football in the yard whether it was 90 degrees, raining or snowing with his grandsons well into his 70s. He also had a love of music of all kinds but he loved and played the drums from a young age. Richard played in bands in high school, weddings and parties and even played in the 1964 World’s Fair in NY. He also sang in the JC Penney chorus in Manhattan and always had music playing whatever he was doing. He enjoyed many years in Wildwood at the beach with his wife going on bike rides, walks on the boardwalk and shows and restaurants. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Ann, his son Greg Andrew; his wife Kate, and 6 grandchildren: Shane Andrew, Chase Andrew, Gage Theodore, Trey Joseph, Blaze William and Isabella Kate. His 5 grandsons will carry on the Brancaleone name and legacy.
Richard did not want any services and the family asks that instead of cards and flowers that you donate to fight cancer. So many of us are affected by cancer; whether it’s in our family or someone we know. Many of our family has been affected by this disease and we hope you find it in your heart to donate in behalf of Richard to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. For those wishing to leave online condolences for the family please visit, www.cochranfuneral.com
