Grace was born in Brooklyn NY August 27, 1934 and spent part of her childhood living away from the city in rural Circleville, NY. Grace spoke fondly of her time “in the country”. She and her husband Joseph married in Brooklyn where they started their family together, eventually moving to Long Valley, NJ. Grace spent her remaining years in Belvidere, NJ until her passing.
Always one to care for others, Grace did so as both a registered nurse and as a selfless and wonderful mother to ten grateful children. Grace graduated from nursing school in Brooklyn, NY in 1956. Not long after that she started her nursing career at All Souls Hospital in Morristown and eventually ended her career at Dover General Hospital in 1996. As a registered nurse, Grace took her caring internationally by performing mission work in both Quito, Ecuador and Bogota, Colombia.
While Grace was an incredibly giving nurse to those under her charge, she was an even more giving mother and grandmother to the children in her life.
Grace is survived by daughters Catherine Sossong (Henry-John), Grace McGrory, and Mary Helen Calabrese Kellam (Eric Gordon), sons Joseph Calabrese (Ann Mari), Albert Calabrese (Nicola), John Calabrese (Cheryl Hagany), Robert Calabrese (Sherri), Peter Calabrese (Eileen) and Frank Calabrese (Glory), brother Albert Moffitt (Patricia), sister Joann Stasuk (Michael Licitra), Cousin Tom Stanton, 22 beloved grandchildren and 20 beloved great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with several friends she made throughout her beautiful life.
Grace is predeceased by her husband Joseph, daughter Irene Calabrese, sisters Carole Kane and Mary Boyette, and parents Albert Moffitt and Helen Grace Moffitt(Hogan), as well as step mother Grace Moffit (Langella).
Grace has had an unwavering faith in God that she has instilled in her children. The love and care she has shown others cannot be fully encapsulated in this brief writing, but will forever be felt by those who were blessed to have her in their lives.
Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Belvidere, NJ on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10 am. Cremation will be private.

November 10, 2022 at 11:09 pmMy heart breaks for you Grace my dear high school friend. So difficult to lose your mother. I’m here for you if you need me. I also lost my mother in 2015. 18 days after my dad died. Please let me know how I can help you through this. I understand how hard this is.
