Cynthia M. Kattermann October 29, 1943 - July 30, 2020

Cynthia M. Kattermann, 76, of Long Valley, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Stroudsburg, PA. Born October 29, 1943 in Bronxville, NY, Cynthia was the daughter of the late Thomas & Georgia Demetry Massiello.
Upon her graduation from Dover High School, Dover, NJ. in 1961, Cynthia attended and graduated on the Deans List from Iona College. (formerly known as Elizabeth Seton College). Cynthia started her career as a first grade teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Wharton, NJ and then moved on to various positions; McKinsey & Co., NYC, Liberty Mutual, Albuquerque, NM, AT&T, Crum & Forster, AIG and retired in 2008 as a Customer Service Supervisor. Cynthia was a caring, kind and gentle person who was always the voice of reason and a source of serenity. She moved through life quietly but made a big impact to each life with whom she interacted. She made many friends but valued deep and caring relationships with her family. Family was above all else. She embraced and instilled the values of honesty, integrity and hard work.
Always active in her community, Cynthia was a member of the Woman’s Club of Wharton, NJ; Newcomers Club of Albuquerque, NM; Member of the St. Mark’s Alter Guild of Mendham, NJ; Activities planner in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendham, NJ and a member of the Dover High School Reunion Committee.
Cynthia leaves behind three children and seven loving grandchildren; Ginny (Danny) Fondaco and their children Matthew and Nicholas; son Gregg (Christine) Kattermann and their children, Lindsey, Brain and Paige, Chris (Lisa) Kattermann and their children Ava & Amelia. Lastly, she leaves behind her sister and best friend, Phyllis Rowley.
A 10:00am Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Wharton, NJ. All friends and family are welcome to attend.     I am one of the “California Cousins” …Barbara Demetry Bourne Messmer.
    I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Cynthia a few years ago when she visited my sister Georgia Lulovics is southern California. We had a lovely time and enjoyed sightseeing and many conversations. Steve sent word of her passing and Georgia shared the link to this site. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that my husband, Mike and I are thinking of your family, as you make your way through this sadness.
