Robert E. Decker, age 74, of Green Township, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Newton Memorial Hospital. Robert was born March 1, 1949 in Morristown NJ to the late Gould Caton and Mary (Blackadder) Decker. Robert Decker attended Morristown High School and moved on to become a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union Madison Local 620 for forty-five years. Upon his retirement, he obtained his Black Seal License while working for the Hanover School District. In 1973 he met his wife Paula and they were married by 1974. Robert Decker was a dedicated husband, loving father, and devoted grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife Paula (Zannino) Decker, daughter Stephanie Decker and husband Reed Smercina, four sons, Robert Decker and wife Dominique, David Decker and fiancé Jamie Franchi, Timothy Decker and wife Cara, John Decker and partner Kara, two brothers, Thomas Decker and Peter Decker, three sisters, Mary Strosnider, Nancy Hayward and Debbie Crater. Robert had seven grandchildren, Maya and Maisie Smercina, Robert, Ryan, Jacob, Emma and Olivia Decker, as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4-8 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown. A service will be held 10:00 am on Friday, March 31 at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, 48 Tranquility Road County Route 517, Andover. The repass will be held at the Green Township Fire Dept. 243 Kennedy Rd, Greendell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in memory of Robert.
