Dorothy Martha Moore, age 97, of Hackettstown formerly of Clifton died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Paragon Village Assisted Living of Hackettstown, NJ. Dorothy was born November 15, 1922 in Hackensack, NJ to the late Gustave and Sarah (Richmond) Peterson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Wesley Moore, Sr., her daughter Dorothy Bucsko, and her sister Selma Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Hudson and her husband Bruce, her two sons, Charles W. Moore, Jr. and his wife Sheila McDonough, William F.  Moore and his wife Jessica, six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Dorothy worked as a typist for Western Electric in New York City during WWII. She married her high school sweetheart, on September 2, 1945 at Carlstadt Baptist Church, the day General MacArthur accepted the Japanese surrender on the battleship Missouri. Their marriage lasted over 61 years, until the Lord called Wes home at 87 years old on December 6, 2006.
Dorothy enjoyed wool hooking, making beautiful rugs and decorative pieces.  She delighted in traveling in the United States, particularly trips to the National Parks. Dorothy was active in the nursery and ladies groups at Brookdale Baptist Church for many years. She got her driver’s license at age 50.  Dorothy was known for her smile and joyful attitude.
She will be missed by all her knew her.
A burial will take place at a later date at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery, for the family.
