Edward Michael Leone, affectionately called Mike by his family, died shortly before midnight on
June 26, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. His daughter Jennifer was by his side holding his
hand. She had been his caretaker these past few months going to every doctor appointment and
every procedure.
Edward grew up in Pleasant Hills, PA. He was the son of Daniel and Alda Leone. He has one
brother Dennis Leone, and two sisters Antoinette Piccolo and Jae Ann Haney. After high
school, Edward served in the United States Army from 1965-1971 and is a Vietnam Veteran. He
moved to New Jersey in 1972 after marrying his wife Karen. A year later Jennifer was born, their
only child. He worked for Monroe Systems for Business and then eventually Panurgy in
Rockaway, NJ as a computer technician. He retired in 2007.
Edward loved building things, especially computers. He built several computers for family
members. He could fix anything and be able to explain why it broke. He enjoyed spending time
with his family in Pittsburgh and went to visit as much as he could. Later on he enjoyed
spending time with his grandchildren, Trevor, Amanda, and Tyler. After being diagnosed with
cancer in March, Edward spent as much time with his daughter and grandkids as he could.
Jennifer stated, “He never wanted to be a burden on me but it was an honor and a privilege
taking care of him. We were given a special gift these past few months, the gift of time. I am
blessed to have gotten the time I was given with him. Few people get that. He was my first love
and my hero,”
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Karen, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Keith Orts,
grandchildren Trevor, Amanda, and Tyler Orts; brother Dennis Leone, sisters Antoinette Piccolo
and Jae Ann Haney; 4 nephews and 2 nieces, and 10 great nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his father and mother Daniel and Alda Leone.
Edward will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. Arrangements will be
privately held by the flower. In lieu of flowers, please make a donate to Karen Ann Quinlan
Hospice Organization.
