Faith, Helen May 15, 1935 - July 12, 2025

Helen Faith, age 90, of Hackettstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, at her home. Helen Elizabeth Finnegan was born on May 15, 1935, in Dover, NJ. She was the daughter of the late James F. Finnegan and the late Helen Norton Finnegan. Helen was the oldest child and was predeceased by her two brothers, John B. Finnegan and James F. Finnegan, and three sisters, Mary Finnegan, Agnes Hunt, and Judy Finnegan. Helen shared a close bond with all her siblings, especially her sister Agnes, who passed away in February of this year.

Helen raised six children in Syosset, NY, with the late Alfred Choy whom she married in 1954.  Helen completed her BA degree at SUNY Stony Brook simultaneously with raising her children and had a productive career as a Case Worker for the Social Security Administration. One of Helen’s passions was adult literacy training, and she volunteered with multiple organizations in NY and NJ. In 1998, Helen was recognized by the SSA’s Regional Commissioner for outstanding community service, which resulted in improved literacy rates for the residents of Greene County, NY.

Helen remained very active in retirement, continuing her volunteer pursuits and serving as president of her HOA. She traveled extensively, including two trips to her ancestral homeland, Ireland. Notably, she also visited Cuba and attended opera festivals across the US. Helen cherished time with her extended family, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and develop.

She is survived by her son Alfred Choy, her son David Choy (Jane Schwedfeger), her son Gerald Choy (Tina Marzocca Choy), her daughter Elizabeth Choy Moorman (Michael Moorman), her son Joseph Choy (Heidi Carlson Choy), her son Michael Choy (Emilie Paisley Choy), her brother-in-law Leonard Hunt, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 19, at St. Theodore’s Roman Catholic Church, Route 57, Mansfield Township, NJ, with Father Damien officiating. Burial will follow in Hackettstown Union Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join a repast following the burial.
