Kathy Ann Gerrity Farrell passed on May 10th 2023 at age 71 in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband Gary, her brother Michael, the Gerrity/Farrell nieces and nephews, the Farrell children, the Farrell grandchildren and Clancy her Irish Setter. Kathy is with her deceased brother Patrick, mother JoAnn, her father John (Jack) and the 5 other Irish Setters Kathy and Gary raised. Kathy was loved by all and will be missed by her family and her many friends.
Kathy was raised in Basking Ridge, NJ. She graduated from Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned her Masters Degree from East Stroudsburg University. Kathy taught for 27 years at Central School and the Great Meadows Middle School, both in Independence Township, NJ. She was loved and respected by her students. During her tenure in the district, she coached cheerleading, basketball and soccer. She also earned the honor of being named the Warren County Teacher of the Year.
Kathy was a highly competitive and accomplished Racquetball player. She was an avid skier and tennis player. She enjoyed bicycling and shared the sport of motorcycling with her husband, Gary. She spent many summers at the Jersey Shore and winters skiing and vacationing in Florida.
Upon moving to Florida permanently in 2002 Kathy became very active with golf organizations. Kathy was a member of the TIDES Women’s Golf group, SLAPS Women’s golf group, President of the Baypointe Women’s Golf Group and President of the TWGA Golf Group at Bardmoor. In addition to golf Kathy was active in Indian Rocks Beach and one of the pioneers of the IRB pickleball community.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at Church of the Isles in Indian Rocks Beach, 200 24th Ave N., on June 10th at 2:00 pm. Reception will be held following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations be made to Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation in Kathy’s name.
