Hadgkiss, Debbie L.
November 07, 1956-October 15, 2023
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Debbie Lee Hadgkiss aged 66, of Hackettstown NJ gained her wings and left our earthly realm on October 15, 2023. Debbie was born to Robert and Dolores Burt and was raised in Flanders, NJ.
Growing up in Flanders she developed a strong and motherly personality at an early age. She was known by those she went to school with as “Ma Burt”. As her guidance meant a lot to those around her and with that strong motherly guidance would create friendships that would last years to come. Debbie served in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduating high school from 1977-1981. Upon leaving the Navy she would spend her civilian life working in the telecommunications industry until she retired.
Throughout life Debbie had a lot of passions and interests. With those interests she developed a mutual love for travel, cruises, and animals, especially all the dogs that had the pleasure of being in her life that she shared with her husband. Debbie was a beloved member of historical society. Her love for researching the history of her town extended into a strong fascination with the paranormal that she shared with her ghost hunting friends.
Those that know Debbie, know that she couldn’t help but share her taste in music with her family as she was a beloved Rock fan but treasured music by Elvis and Queen the most. She made it a mission to carry on this same love with her kids and the kids to follow. She enjoyed the seasons whether it was enjoying all of nature’s wonders by collecting leaves during the fall and flowers in the spring, decorating for Christmas or making sweat tea and delicious salads for BBQs in the summer. Towards the later years of her life, she loved nothing more than spending time watching her favorite crime dramas and documentaries with her children.
Debbie is now reunited in eternal life with those she loved most who had predeceased her, her father Robert Burt, her husband James E. Hadgkiss and other family and friends that have been waiting to party once again with her.
Debbie is survived by, her son Jeremy Bell, daughter Sara Beth Hadgkiss and her partner Thomas Jacob, daughter Heather Hadgkiss and her partner Shawn Hughes, grandson Jordan Ward and her dogs Chip, Callie, Pumpkin and Bernie. She is also survived by her mother Dolores Burt, brother Robert Burt and his wife Sherry Burt, brother Michael Burt, brother Scott Burt and his wife Tammy Burt, nephews Bobby, Anson, Christian, and Alex.
Family meant a lot to Debbie and with the previous loss of her husband, she was so blessed to still have a beloved relationship with his family until the end. She is additional survived by her mother-in-law Joan Hadgkiss, sister-in-law Christina Gleason, and her husband Mathew Gleason, two nieces Caitlyn Gleason and Lauren Gleason, sister-in law-Patricia Murray and her husband Daniel Murray, nieces Tess and Natalie Murray and other extended family members.
