Date of Funeral

August 14, 2025

Martin Janowski, age 89, of Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1935, in Lyndhurst, NJ, to the late Walter S. and Marie Ann (Czarnecki) Janowski. In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Constance, his son, Joseph, and his sister, Barbara Tarin.

Martin, or “Marty” as he was known to friends and family, grew up in Lyndhurst and proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. After his military service, he attended the RCA Institute in New York City, where he trained to become a Radio Technician. Following his marriage to Constance, the couple moved to Hopatcong, NJ, to raise their family. Marty dedicated 40 years of his life working at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey as a Small Caliber Range Electronics Technician.

Marty had a deep love for the outdoors and animals, and he was an avid member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a fan of classic music, particularly the works of Johnny Cash and Buddy Holly. However, Marty’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He brought laughter and created lasting memories for all who knew him.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Anne Drescher and her husband, Paul, and Mary Novak and her husband, Michael. He is also survived by eight cherished grandchildren: Madelynn, Jack, Vivian, Alaina, Christopher, Gregory, Rebecca, and Julia, as well as eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Marty will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 3-7 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

The funeral service will be held 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at funeral home.  Burial of ashes will be held at a later date.

Marty’s wife Connie was my wife’s first cousin. I first met him in 1962 and always found he and Connie to be a great, fun-loving couple. Marty and I shared many interests and had we lived closer, I’m sure we would have spent a lot of quality time together. The many family events we all attended are vivid memories to my wife and me. We are so sorry for your loss. TX Bonnie and Ralph Edelbach

My deepest sympathy to Mary and Anne for the loss of their dad. My family and the Janowski family were neighbors in Hopatcong and shared many happy memories for almost 40 years while our children grew up, married and became parents themselves. May you rest in peace and be reunited with Connie and Joseph.
    With love,
    Sigrid Hennings
