Loving husband, stepfather, brother and friend, John Everett Sayer of Blairstown, New Jersey passed away peacefully on May 1, 2020 after having suffered a heart attack a few days prior.
Mr. Sayer was born January 31, 1959 in Allamuchy, New Jersey, and resided in Blairstown, New Jersey since his marriage to his beloved wife, Debbie. Mr. Sayer was the owner of John Sayer LLC.
The greatest testimony to the full life John led would be to celebrate him and his joyful nature.
He was a very committed mason and excelled in his craftsmanship. He lived his life with passion and not by half measures. He was also known to laugh with a glint in his eyes that you couldn’t help but share. He loved hard work as much as he enjoyed fun and entertainment with us all. Whether he was throwing a pizza party for the neighborhood or celebrating life with a pig roast in the backyard and inviting everyone he knew, John was a light that was thoughtful, giving, and full of adventure.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Sayer of Blairstown NJ, his stepchildren Taylor Evans of Brooklyn, NY and Adison Evans of North Bergen, NJ. He is also survived by a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Julia Sayer, and his brother Ralph (Razz) Sayer.
We ask that you keep John’s family in your thoughts and prayers at this time. A memorial service to commemorate John will be scheduled at a later date, post Covid-19.
The family has asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers. Mr. Sayer was proud to support the arts, and to this end, the family have asked that donations be made to The John Sayer Artist Appreciation Fund on gofundme.com to help those artists struggling at this time, and The American Heart Association in memory and honor of John Sayer.

His passing has created a gap that was only his to fill, however he will live on in our memories.

Dear Sayer clan, I’m the wife of John’s brother, Joe, who spoke of John as only a younger brother could: with deference, respect and a certain amount of awe. Sending prayers to you and yours during this extraordinarily difficult time.

Dear Debbie, John was my exhusband’s cousin, and my son’s Godfather. I was so sad to hear about his passing. I have so many wonderful memories of John. I know there are no words right now for what you are feeling. But I hope you are surrounded by the love of your family, and I hope all your wonderful memories you had with John will help you through this. John was very special to me and my children. We loved him so. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray the Lord holds you close during this time in your life.
