Gloria “Kate” Jones, of Long Valley, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the House of the Good Shepherd. She was 94 years old.

Born on May 5, 1931, in Pequest, New Jersey, Gloria was a lifelong resident of the state she called home. Known affectionately as “Kate” to those close to her, she built a life marked by dedication and quiet strength.

For 32 years, Gloria worked as a seamstress for Elizabeth Undergarment. Her commitment to her craft and her steady presence made her a valued part of the workplace and a respected member of her community.

Gloria found joy in simple pleasures. She loved roller skating and bowling—activities that brought her both fun and friendship over the years. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos, where she embraced the excitement and camaraderie they offered.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph W. Jones; her parents, Samuel Read Jr. and Mary E. Read; her siblings Joseph E. Read, Helen Skinner, David H. Read Sr., and Donald Read.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Elaine M. Read and many nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection.

A life well-lived leaves behind cherished memories. May Gloria’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Graveside Service will be held on August 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at German Valley Cemetery 80 Coleman Road. Services are private.
