Karl J. Kreder, Sr., age 86, of Lake Ariel, PA, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Warren Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Karl was born October 8, 1933 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to the late Frank and Helen Kreder.
Karl worked as a machinist for 45 years at American Can Co. and Scranton Lace. Following retirement, Karl worked part time for the Wallenpaupack School District. He was a devout Catholic who was active as a church member and was proud of his lifelong membership in the Knights of Columbus, achieving the rank of 4th degree Knight. He enjoyed spending time with his family and could often be found playing cards, chess, bowling and checkers with family and friends. Few opponents can claim to have beaten him at checkers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Pauline (Sumski), his three sons: Karl Jr. and wife Gay, Tom and wife Ceil, Matthew, and three daughters: Valerie Young and husband Bob, Jeanne Yannuzzi and husband Tom, and Karen Perez and husband William, thirteen grandchildren: Katie Eng, Karl Kreder III, Amanda Aley, Michael Young, Lauren Yannuzzi, Candice Yannuzzi-Kirchuk, Tommy Kreder, Matthew Kreder, Carissa Olsen, Jaime Gubitosi, Heather Arroyo, Jessica Casciano and Nicholas Casciano, sixteen great-grandchildren: Harper, Kai, Bennett, Davis, Corbin, Reese, Lorenzo, Lucian, Harlan, Nora, Silas, Laila, Brooke, Elena, Alexis, Dominic, and numerous nieces and nephews. Karl was predeceased by his daughter Suzanne Redzinski, one sister Vera, and five brothers Frank, Vince, Ernest, Teddy and John.
