JOSEPH A. MAGNINI (79) passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of 42 years to the love of his life, Marie (Buchko). Loving father to Ann Marie (Magnini) Thomas and her husband Darren. Loving grandfather to Ryan and Brenna Thomas.
Joseph was born in 1945 and was predeceased by his parents, Mary (DeLuccia) and Alfred Magnini. He grew up in Paterson, NJ where he lived until relocating to Bergen County in 1973. He moved to Warren County, NJ in 1991 where he lived the remainder of his life.
Joseph was a proud United States Marine and served active duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. His love of Country and patriotic heart were a core component of who he was. He will be remembered for his bravery always.
He had many jobs throughout his life, mostly involving driving in one way or another. He was his own boss for the majority of his life and loved the freedom that afforded him. The open road and ability to meet and interact with people brought him much happiness.
Being there for people, in big ways and small, gave much meaning to his life. Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors – each added a richness to his life which he cherished. He made everyone he met feel seen and appreciated, and their days were always brighter for having him in it. The absolute greatest joy of his life was his family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them and his love for them was felt every moment of his life.
When you run into someone who knew him, share a story of what he meant to you. Smile at the memory and be kind to someone in his honor. His legacy will always be the love he gave and received.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

July 16, 2025 at 4:08 pmMarie – Very sorry for your loss. Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit and always being ready to help. Nice guy. Julia, Liz and I have requested a Sanctuary Candle be light for 8 days in Joe’s memory in the Chapel of the Dominican Monastery, Summit, NJ. The Dominican Sisters are a cloistered order of Nuns dedicated to The Holy Rosary. Be strong and hold steady. With love, the Roops.
