Mayerlin Emmons June 4, 2020

Mayerlin Emmons beloved mother, daughter, sister, and wife, passed away on June 4th at the age of 45 after her long fight with leukemia. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela. When she was little, she asked for a computer while other girls her age were asking for dolls. She was very bright and had a great capacity for teaching herself any subject she was interested in. Her natural curiosity and interest in computers led to her getting a degree in systems engineering and she started her career as a network engineer.
In 2002, she moved to New Jersey to continue her career in network engineering where her husband met her and fell in love. While she made her home and life here in the US, she continued to be a patriot of Venezuela and missed being able to frequently visit her homeland and her relatives. Despite the difficulties in traveling to Venezeula, she had great joy in being able to attend the wedding of her only sibling – her dear sister Melany. She loved to enjoy the companionship of friends and family, making music, dancing and sharing these passions through her Zumba instruction classes.
While cancer robbed her of her health, it did not rob her of her compassion, her freedom, or her desire to be happy and bring happiness to others. She sometimes said her cancer taught her how to see happiness in the little things in life. She has always had a deep belief in God and his love for her; she was not afraid of death because she knew of the biblical hope of resurrection.
She is survived by her parents, Irma and Amando, her sister, Melany, her brother-in-law, Grosguel, her nephew, Jeremia, her husband, Devon and her two most precious treasures – her daughters Danielle and Mariana. She will be missed terribly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mayerlin’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, June 12 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows following services.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 12 from 10 am to 11 am at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..

I am so deeply saddened to hear of my friends passing . I will never forget her passion for life, and love for dance. We met at Golds gym in a Zumba class. She was a magnificent dancer and teacher. A warrior! We last texted a few days before her passing. We had so many laughs and shared so much of our Spanish culture. She fought until the end and danced her way into heaven . Rest In Peace beautiful ! Until we meet again ! Alina Love you Amiga! You are now at peace.

Dear Family of Mayerlin’s– I never met Mayerlin in person, I work at a different company than she and we were involved, for a couple of years, on a project which required many conference bridges late at night that lasted for hours. She was so smart and never said a thing about her situation until one night she explained to me that she was going through Chemo. I learned today of her passing through her boss at work. I just want to offer my sincere condolences. She was smart and kind and I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you and hoping you can find some peace from all this sadness. She was a beautiful woman.
