Middaugh, Asburn O. November 20, 1934 - April 7, 2023

Date of Funeral

April 14, 2023

Asburn O. Middaugh, Sr. (Moon) was a lifelong resident and loving man of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on April7, 2023.  He was 88 years old.

Asburn was born on November 20, 1934 in Phillipsburg, NJ.  He had a great passion for sports but baseball was his biggest.  At the age of 17 he was scouted by the Pittsburg Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies.  He turned down the opportunities so he could stay home and take care of his Family.  He played at many fields throughout NJ and PA up until the age of 50, but the Tannery Field in Hackettstown was by far his favorite place to play.  He had become a great coach to many teams at this field for the Hackettstown league.

Asburn is survived by his three loving children, Deborah Lineburg and husband Michael, Peggy Middaugh and Jay “Bird” Middaugh.  Asburn was blessed with 3 grandchildren Teleshia, Krystle, Marie Gibson, Joshua Middaugh and wife Brittany Middaugh and Alexander Middaugh.  He was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren Dylan Crawford and Destiny Lineburg.

Asburn was a member of the Trinity Church in Hackettstown and a beloved friend to all that he met and was a very respected man as he also served in the Army.  He was a true loving and caring man.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 10am to 12 noon at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.  A celebration will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Deb DeVos presiding.  The burial will be immediately after the service at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown NJ.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com

When I played little league baseball for the Moose Lodge Azzy was one of my coaches. He taught me the mental toughness part of the game and always believe in myself and teammates. Years later we became adult friends and would often see him around the Tannery Field and various softball tournaments in the area. He was a great guy who had a positive influence on my Life. I will always remember Coach!
My deepest sympathy and condolences to family and friends

    Dear Middaugh family
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Midsaugh.
Mr. Middaugh along with Mr. Hagerty had a huge influence on my Brothers Dave, & Bob teaching them how to play baseball correctly, and as Ed Wehmeyer already stated, such an influence on the Moose teams they played on.
Though I was way to young to the games were a pleasure to watch.
The Town will miss yet another treasure, May the LORD comfort you all as only HE can.
Writing this for my Late brother Dave, who is already home with the LORD.
    In Christ alone
    Paul & Robin Wallace
