Miller, Dorothy F. July 6, 1923 - January 12, 2021

Dorothy F. Miller, age 97, formally of Great Meadows, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.  Dorothy was born in 1923 in Perth Amboy New Jersey and moved to Great Meadows at age 10. She lived in Great Meadows for 55 years then moved to Forks Township, PA. in 1988. She recently resided at Colonial Manor, Allamuchy.

She is the daughter of the late Andrew Salata, and Josephine Wojcik. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter, daughter Elizabeth, brother Walter and his wife Pauline. She is survived by two sons, Edward and Peter, daughter in law Carol and granddaughter Amy.

She graduated Hackettstown High School in 1942 then worked in manufacturing producing products to support our troops during WW II. While in Great Meadows, she helped with the family farm. Dorothy and her mother loved selling produce for several decades at their road side stand where they made many wonderful friends.  In addition to working on the family farm, Dorothy was a devoted homemaker and worked at M&M Mars for many years. Her greatest love was spending time with her granddaughter, Amy.

Viewing hours will be held on Friday, January 15th 2021 12:30-2:00 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. Interment will follow the viewing at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Independence Township Fire Department.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com/

    Amy, I’m so sorry to hear this. We often have a special bond with our grandmas – I know I did – and it’s tough when they are gone. And my dad worked at M&M Mars for a while back in the 60s – I wonder if they knew each other! My love and thoughts to you and your family. May your memories be a blessing.
