Steven (Sport) Mincevich, of Great Meadows, NJ, died April 15, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. He was born in Newton Hospital in 1961 to Francis and Jean Mincevich.
Sport was a 1980 graduate of Hackettstown High School where he was a member of the football team and Future Farmers of America. He was also a member of the Independence Road and Gun Club. After high school Sport became a mechanic, specializing in small engines. Over the years he worked for Hoff’s Auto, Mackarevich Bros., Dukes Landscaping, Kenvil Power Mower, Hoffman’s Supply and Liberty Sod Farms. He was the kind of person who could never say no to someone when they needed their equipment fixed, even if he wasn’t feeling well.
Sport loved to hunt and fish, taking a trip or two to Alaska and to the shore to fish. As a kid he and his sister CIndy would go fishing before the crack of dawn, to be home to eat breakfast before having to get to school on time.
He is survived by: His mother Jean Mincevich of Hackettstown, sister Cindy & Robert Neumann of Independence Township and sister Stacey & John Tillou of Hackettstown. Nephews: James & Elizabeth Neumann of NC, Richard & Erin Neumann of Belvidere, NJ and Michael & fiance’ Amanda Neumann of Bethlehem, PA. Nieces: Kristina & Ronald Cain of MD, Jennifer & Connor Dietl of Washington, NJ, and Megan & Cody Cathers of Harmony, NJ. Great nieces and nephews: Francis, Cora, Fitzpatrick & Summer Neumann, McKenzie & Michael Dietl, and Norah & Lylah Cathers.
Sport was predeceased by his father, Frank (Minnie) Mincevich.
