David R. Mitchell, age 87, of Andover, NJ died Friday, January 8, 2021 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Newton, NJ.  David was born August 29, 1933 in Patterson, NJ.

He served proudly in the U.S. Navy 1952 to 1960.  He was employed by Passaic Middle School as a Teacher for many years.  After his retirement Dave continued to substitute teach within the local school districts in the Hackettstown area.  He was an accomplished writer and published two books.

David is survived by his wife: Dolores (Whelan Komsa) Mitchell , his daughters, Sharon Burger, Renee Dixon, his sons, Dale Mitchell and David Mitchell and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dixon.

All services were private and under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, Hackettstown, NJ
