Kevin Colin Moore, 68, of Mansfield Township, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center after a five-year battle with cancer.

Kevin was born September 1, 1955, in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Terence and Catherine (McCarthy) Moore. He grew up in Waldwick and Randolph, New Jersey, graduating from Randolph High School. He attended the County College of Morris, Rutgers University, and earned a Master of Education from William Paterson University. Kevin taught for 40 years at Jefferson Township Middle School and retired in 2016. He taught social studies, biology, forensics, and S.T.E.P.. He also coached cross country and track and field at Jefferson.

Kevin was highly active in the community and the lives of his children. He was a Mansfield Board of Education member and Chief of the Mount Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. Kevin was a Scout Leader for his son’s Boy Scout troop and coached his daughter’s soccer, basketball, and softball teams. He never missed his children’s sporting events and was always there to cheer them on.

He loved the outdoors, hiking daily in retirement and kayaking frequently while his health allowed it. He was also known for his homemade maple syrup he crafted from sap he collected and boiled from his backyard sugar bush. He was an avid sports fan cheering on the New York Rangers, Giants, Yankees, and Nottingham Forest F.C. of the Premier League.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Lynne C. Moore, his daughter Brittany Moore, his son Terence Moore and daughter-in-law Amanda (Zellers), and his grandsons Henry and Bennett. Kevin is also survived by his siblings Virginia Moore and Brian Moore.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents Terence and Catherine, and brothers Terence and Timothy.

A celebration of life will be held at the end of the summer.
