Alan Quick, 80, passed away on January 15, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born to Harry and Lillian (Smith) Quick September 19, 1942 in Morristown, NJ. Along with his predeceased sister, Ellen “Pat” Rossi, he was raised in Budd Lake, NJ.
Alan and his predeceased wife, Gail Ann (Schwalk) Quick, raised their children in Long Valley and in Great Meadows, farming animals, crops and Christmas trees. The Quick Christmas Tree Farm was a source of pride and joy for the entire family, touching lives from as far away as Brooklyn, NY for over 30 years. Along with farming, Alan enjoyed deep sea fishing from his Grady White along the New Jersey shore and the Eastern shore of Southern Florida. He held the record for the largest (that year) Cobia inVirginia. A beloved teacher for over 25 years, Alan taught Industrial Arts (wood shop) in Mount Olive and West Morris Central High Schools. He was a loved and admired teacher and colleague to many. The last decade of his life, Alan cherished his final years in Layton, NJ with his loving companion, Dr. Patricia Farrell. He truly enjoyed living on the family farm and spending time with Pat’s family, children, and grandchildren, along with many new friends he met.
Alan proudly served in the Army National Guard and reserves from 1964-1970. He was a member of the American Legion for many years.
Alan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail Ann (Schwalk) Quick, his beloved son, Michael P. Quick, his sister, Ellen “Pat” (Quick) Rossi, as well as his parents, Harry and Lillian (Smith) Quick.
He is survived by his cherished companion of many years, Dr. Patricia Farrell and her children, Laura, Bernard, Katherine and grandchildren, Josephine, Benny and Hannah , his loving daughter and son-in-law, Meghan and Christopher Smith, his granddaughters, Lyla and Mia Quick, along with their mother, Maria (Mazzei) Quick and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, January 26th at Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A funeral mass will be held Friday, January 27th at 10:30 at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 210 US 206, Sandyston, NJ 07826. (Please meet at church)
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Home, 28 Fairview Hill Rd, Fredon Township, NJ 07860.

My Wife Robin and I were very sorry to hear of Mr. Quick’s passing.
The obituary nails it, as in all the years he stopped into Williams & Hibler for hardwood, and other project needs He was a pleasure to talk to and serve, always a gentleman.

my husband, Raymond, was in the firehouse with Al and we al had serious and fun times together. He was a wonderful person. May you all cherish your memories of the fantastic times together.
