John M. Quinlan, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his home in Mount Olive, NJ, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 75 years old.
John was born on December 9, 1949, in Morristown, NJ, to his loving parents, Ruth and Clarence Quinlan of Staten Island, New York. He was raised on Staten Island, where he grew up alongside his late brother, Frank Quinlan, and two late sisters, Ruthann and Susie Quinlan. He is survived by his sister, Cathie Infuso (Vinny).
A graduate of Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, John was drafted into the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. During his four years of honorable service in the Vietnam War, he wrote countless heartfelt letters to Marlene Casier, the love of his life.
John pursued an associate’s degree in accounting at County College of Morris. He began his career with the Summit Post Office. Over the next 35 years, John poured his heart into his work, building relationships and leaving a lasting impact before retiring.
Together, John and Marlene built a beautiful life, raising three wonderful children and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. John had a deep love for sports, especially his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Whether it was cheering on the Yankees during a summer game or rooting for the Giants on a Sunday afternoon, John’s passion for his teams brought him great joy.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marlene Quinlan, and their children: son Sean Quinlan (Andrea), and daughters Erin Yeisley (Robert) and Casey Ury (Joshua). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Kayli Castiglia (Nate), Kory Quinlan (Amani), Jordan Yeisley, Aiden Quinlan, Cameron Yeisley, Kaia Ury, Sean Quinlan, Layla Quinlan, and Landon Ury. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cherished family members.
John’s legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering strength will be remembered forever.
A memorial visitation will be at Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 6:00pm with a memorial service beginning at 5:30 pm.
