Annette Rauscher, age 97, of Hackettstown formerly of Mansfield, NJ, Long Valley, NJ, Mahopac, NY, and Queens, NY died Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Heath Village surrounded by her loved ones. Annette was born October 28, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Anthony and Lillian (Mannara) Lopes. In addition to her parents, Annette is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert W. Curtis, Sr.,
She was previously employed as a School Teacher with the Washington Township School District, Long Valley, NJ and the North Shore Central School district in Glenwood Landing, NY for many years before her retirement. Annette graduated Queens College with a Bachelor’s Degree (Class of 1950) and went on to continue her education receiving her Master’s Degree (Class of 1955). She was a member of the Our Lady of the Mountain Church Rosary Society and the Alter Guild, Long Valley, NJ, the Hackettstown Women’s Club of NJ, The Golden Age Club, Schooley’s Mountain, NJ. Annette was a founding member of the Centenary I.L.R. (Institute for Learning in Retirement), was a CCD Teacher, Assistant to the Sunday School Director, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Hackettstown Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Hackettstown Women’s Club, and was the 1st President of the Washington Township PTA.
Annette is survived by her loving daughter, Leslie Ann Curtis, her devoted son, Robert Rauscher, Jr. (Bob) and wife Catharine (Kate), four grandchildren, Robert W. Curtis, Jr. (Bobby) and partner Nicole Stewart, Ryan M. Curtis, Emily C. Rauscher, and Andrew J. Rauscher.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 1-5 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, September 8 at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ with Rev. Marchin Michalowski officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Mountain Cemetery, Long Valley following the Mass.
