Redington, Beatrice April 12, 1923 - December 21, 2022

On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, our loving mother, Beatrice F. Redington, née Marquand, of Hackettstown, NJ, formerly of Lanesboro, PA and Whippany, NJ, passed away. Born on April 12, 1923, in Lake Champlain, NY, she was ninety-nine years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Francis R. Redington, son James Redington and daughters-in-law Donna Redington and Sally Redington.

She is survived by her children Marguerite Haft (Craig) of Fairfax VA, Christopher Redington (Connie) of Susquehanna PA, Francine Wiggins (Thomas) of Long Valley NJ, Robert Redington (Ethelyn) of Chugiak AK, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Bea’s family lived on a canal boat plying the waters of the St. Lawrence Seaway until she was 5, when her family moved to Brooklyn N.Y. She grew up and attended high school in Brooklyn along with her parents and three brothers and three sisters whom she remained close to throughout their lives. She met her husband Frank shortly after the war ended, married in 1948 and in 1954 moved to Whippany N.J. She raised her five children there and was a homemaker and later an assistant librarian at the Morris County Library where she was able to indulge her lifelong passion for reading. She was an excellent cook and on many a Sunday afternoon, her family gathered to enjoy one of her special meals. After she and Frank retired, they moved to Lanesboro PA where they were active in the church and community, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, in the gift shop at Barnes Kasson hospital and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA. Their retirement years were filled with travel to visit their children and relatives and enjoying being part of the lives of their children and many grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday Dec 29, 2022, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Long Valley NJ at 10 a.m. Burial will be on Friday Dec 30, 2022, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. at 9 a.m.
