Kathryn Ritner of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Born July 20, 1937, to Allan and May (Gomez) MacLean, Kathy grew up in Palisades Park, NJ, with her sisters, Eileen, Marcella (Marcy), and Michaela (Mickey).
A Special Education Teacher for more than 30 years, Kathy retired from the Avon Avenue School in Newark, NJ. She was an exceptional artist and an avid reader who found a great deal of fun in music. Kathy earned more than 44 years of sobriety and gratitude for her 12 – Step Program. Her legacy rests in her six children – Donald Alan, Robert Matthew, Elizabeth Lillian (husband Dale), Joseph Michael, Thomas James (wife Jan), and Paul Anthony – her seven grandchildren – Bridget, Serra, Jaqueline, Maxwel, Alyx, Thomas Jr., and Sophia – and her six great – grandchildren – Leilani, Piper, Lettie, Little Max, Taliah, and William.
Throughout her life, Kathy enjoyed the love of family members who await her in heaven: her parents, her Aunt Kate (Auntie), her sister Eileen, her Uncle Joe and Aunt Marie, and her Uncle Jerry and Aunt Frankie, and their daughter, Chrissy. She is survived by many others in the MacLean and Gomez clans who will tell the tales of “May’s Girls” for years to come.
