Virginia Julia Snyder

Virginia Julia Snyder at age 85 from Rotanda West, Florida passed away suddenly on September 24, 2022 at Englewood Hospital Florida. She resided with her husband Norman F. Snyder, they have been married for 64 years and raised seven children in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Virginia was employed at Newton Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department . She loved her carreer especially when she was given an opportunity transporting a patient via helicopter to another hospital for advanced care. She retired after 30 years of service to the Hospital which on many occasions she described as family to her.
Virginia was the matriarch to her loving family, always there when needed cheering us thru joyous occasion or helping us thru challenges in our lives. She loved to travel especially cruises to the tropical regions. She had many talents, one being a baker and decorating cakes. Many had the pleasure to enjoy her creative and delicious cakes for many years, she enjoyed taking ceramics and crotcheting making many gifts for others to enjoy, and her love for her gardening especially orchids. She was a member of the orchid society in Florida. She was also involved in her community which included working with Cub Scouts in Hackettstown and many other volunteer work when her children were attending St. Mary’s and Hackettstown High School. Virginia had a strong devotion to her Catholic faith that has helped her thru many challenging times in her life.
She was preceded in death by her father Howard Forbes, mother Edith Downey-Forbes, brother Charles Forbes, sister Edith Forbes-Debrecki, daughter Jacqueline Snyder and grand-daughter Briana Healy. She leaves behind her husband Norman Snyder her daughter Theresa and her husband Richard Kampka, son Michael and his wife Renee, son Thomas and his wife Deidre, son David, daughter Darlene and her husband John McHugh and son Craig and his wife Lisa. Her 13 grandchildren Shawn and his wife Melisa, Ricky, Ashley and her husband Michael Sannitti, Travis, Matthew and his wife Amanda, Justin, Alaina and her husband Kevin Shields, Jacob, Autumn, Ryan, Jackie ,Madisen and CJ, 7 great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Liam, Emmett, Wilder, Archer, Maverick and Carter and her cousins,nieces and nephews.
The viewing hours will be held at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840 on October 20th at 4-8 P.M. in Hackettstown, N.J. The funeral will be held on October 21st at 10:00 A.M. Mass at Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church on 302 High Street Hackettstown,N.J. Burial at the Pequest Cemetery, 30 Cemetery Road Independence, N.J.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to family to assist with funeral expenses as her husband is recovering damages from Hurricane Ian in Florida.
