Francesco Luigi Stramaglia
1933 – 2025
Francesco Luigi Stramaglia, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2025 at the age of 91. Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1933 to Josephine and Francesco Stramaglia, Frank grew up in a warm and lively Italian home where food, family, and faith were the cornerstones of life.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army before returning home to build a meaningful life rooted in service, hard work, and connection. He went on to found Frank Stramaglia Insurance in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where he was a trusted presence. Known for his integrity, kindness, and encyclopedic memory of names and faces, Frank was the kind of man who truly knew everyone in town—and they knew him.
He was a devoted father to his daughter, Maryann Josephine (Jo) Montgomery, and her husband, Andrew Montgomery, and a proud grandfather to Sarah and Drew Montgomery, who brought endless joy to his life. He also cherished his close bond withhis sister, Anita Purdente and her two sons, Charles and Robert, as well as with his other sister, Agnes Richless, all of which he shared a deep family history and enduring love.
A lifelong learner and seeker of truth, Frank had a passionate interest in health and wellness, eagerly reading everything he could on the subject. His curiosity, discipline, and independent spirit inspired those around him.
Frank will be remembered for his loyalty, his laughter, his signature Italian cooking, and his ability to make people feel like family. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the lives he touched, and the love he gave.
A Christian funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 2 E Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ with Father Marcin Michalowski officiating. Following the mass, burial of ashes will be held at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ. All services are under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ,
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a home-cooked meal with someone you love—or pick up a book on wellness in Frank’s memory.
