David Switzer, 67, went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 8, 1958 in La Grange, Illinois, David was the youngest of two children of Lisle and Audrey (Ross) Switzer, both deceased. He is survived by his sibling Alan Switzer.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was endless. David shared 27 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carmen Estela Switzer. Together they raised two children: Bianca Stella Fields and Jonathan David Switzer, and was blessed to welcome his son-in- law, Christopher Albert Fields. He was a proud grandfather to Leia Nova Fields.
A man of deep faith who was a humble and faithful servant of God. David’s life was built on his love for God, and he lived everyday as a humble and faithful servant. His devotion to the Lord guided his words, his actions, and the way he cared for others. He was a man of prayer, gratitude, and service, who sought to honor God in all that he did.
Along with his faith David found joy and expression through his passion for art. He pursued his love for art at Pratt Institute in New York, where his love for painting grew and won numerous art exhibition awards. He went on to build a remarkable career as a designer, spending 27 years with Peggy Karr Glass as a decorative glassware designer. His creativity left a lasting mark on all who admired his work.
David was a man of many talents, he enjoyed painting, stamp and rock collecting, and gardening. He would use art to repurpose antique items. He would often attend antique car shows but most of all, he enjoyed reading his Bible.
A prayer service will be held on September 23,2025 at Pequest Union Cemetery at 1:30pm . Family and Friends are invited to gather and remember the remarkable man he was, and to rejoice in the promise that he is now home with his Savior.
In lieu of flowers, David’s family asks that you honor his memory by reading Psalm 25.
