Roger Allen Turner, 75, passed away on April 13, 2022 at Clover Rest Home in Columbia, NJ.
Born September 21, 1946 to Alice (Brennan) Turner and Robert Addis Turner in Teaneck, NJ, he attended Eugene Field Elementary and spent his days as a youth with his best friend Bill, riding bikes, playing box hockey, “zell ball” and hanging out with the girls. In High School it was syphoning gas with his friend Mike to keep his Oldsmobile running. These & other friendships extended beyond childhood and would maintain throughout his life. Even when distance separated them, he enjoyed keeping in touch with friends through emails, cards and phone calls. He will be remembered for his childhood mischief and sarcastic wit.
In 1964, at the age of 17, Roger left Teaneck High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Where he acquired his GED and went on to serve in Viet Nam until his honorable discharge in 1967.
He met and married Linda Baylor (nee Rumble) in 1969 and together, they had one daughter, Tricia (Turner) Richards. After divorcing in 1974, he moved to Virginia, worked his way through night school at George Mason University and was then employed as an accountant by Bird Engineering for many years.
In 2006 he moved further south to Florida and was employed by Indyne, Inc. at Elgin Air Force Base until he retired and moved to Melbourne, Florida in 2011.
Survived by his daughter, Tricia and her Husband Kevin Richards, nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends who will keep his memory alive. Roger loved Corvettes, Neil Diamond, 50’s music, hanging out at the bar with a 7&7 or on the beach in the sun. He loved being in Florida & often bragged about being able to wear shorts all year round.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister, Barbara Salafia and brother, Robert (Robbie) Turner.
