Zito, Michael W. November 13, 1942 - October 11, 2023

Michael W. Zito, age 80, of Panther Valley, Hackettstown, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Hackettstown Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Mike was born to the late Dominick and Katherine (German) Zito November 13, 1942 and was raised in Brooklyn, NY.

He graduated from the School of Music & Art NY, the Academy of Advanced Traffic, and Thomas Edison College. He had a life-long passion for music, enjoyed playing the accordion, and led the Mike Zito Trio from 1966-1980. He enjoyed playing cards with his poker buddies.

Mike spent over 50 years in Transportation employed by WT Grant, Sterling Drug, JCPenney, Fairchild Publications, Warner Lambert, and JB Williams. Mike had an entrepreneurial spirit, and founded Logistxs, Inc in 1986. He was the past President of the NJ Chapter of the Brokers organization, a member of the Transportation Intermediates Association, and past President of Lakeland Traffic Club.

Mike served his country as HQ Troop Logistics Specialist 4th class in the 7th Calvary, Fort Benning, GA, from 1963-1965.

He is survived by his wife Carole Zito of 60 years, sister Rosemary (husband Joe) Leone of Toms River, NJ, daughters Janet Zito of Orlando, FL, Chris (husband Tim) Genung of Hackettstown, NJ, Debbie Gordon of Hackettstown, NJ, and son, Michael Zito (wife Michele) of Long Valley, NJ. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Nicholas Genung, Jack Gordon, and Alyssa, Beth, Michael, and Lauren Zito.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 15th from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 Monday, October 16th at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

For those desiring, donations may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Mike.
