Janet Keldie Boatman

August 9, 1916 – January 27, 2021

Janet passed away peacefully at the House of the Good Shepherd with family at her side on January 27, 2021.  Though Janet was a “Jersey Girl”, born in Toms River and graduated from Madison Schools, she lived most of her adult life in Annapolis, Maryland as part of the Naval Academy community.  She met her husband, John, while he was a student at Drew University, and they were happily married for 69 years before John’s passing in 2010.  In their retirement they enjoyed square dancing together.  Janet was a kind, caring, loving and generous person to family friends and students.  When she became the mother of a special needs child, she began teaching other special needs students where her progress was nothing short of amazing.  Janet was predeceased be her brother, Robert, her sister, Marion, her son, James, and her niece, Carol.  She is survived by her niece, Nancy, and her husband Steve, and 6 great nieces and nephews, 14 great, great nieces and nephews, and several great, great, great nieces and nephews.  A celebration of life will take place in late spring or early summer.  In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.
