Scarano, Simone M. April 24, 1937 - April 4, 2026

Simone M. Scarano, 88, of Iselin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Simone was a beloved mother, Mēmē, aunt, and friend who leaves behind a legacy of beauty, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Born on April 24th , 1937 in Bitche (neé-Moselle), France, Simone carried with her a lifelong appreciation for style and elegance. She was a talented hairdresser and, in her younger years in France, worked as a hair model, showcasing her natural sense of style with striking colors ranging from silver to blue. Her creativity extended far beyond the salon – she had a deep love for music and often filled her home with warmth and joy through the sound of her accordion.

A woman of many talents, Simone found comfort and joy in caring for those she loved. She was an avid knitter, thoughtfully creating pieces that wrapped her family in warmth. In the kitchen, she truly shined.  She had a passion for cooking and baking, bringing people together through meals made with love. Her talent was recognized when she won a cooking contest published in the Home News Tribune – a proud reflection of her dedication and skill.

Above all, Simone was the heart of her family. She found her greatest happiness in caring for others, always putting loved ones before herself and ensuring no one ever left her home without a full heart and a full plate. Her love extended to her cherished Yorkies, who brought her constant companionship and joy. Simone will be remembered for her warmth, her food, her sense of humor, and the love she poured into all of us. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, in the traditions she passed down, and in the countless joyful moments she created. She will be deeply missed and forever loved – and will always be everyone’s beloved Mēmē

She is predeceased by her parents, Therese (nee Goetschy) & Marcel Gschwindemann; her brother, Manfred Gschwindemann; her sisters, Germaine Loke, Gertrude Wagner, Irma Dannenberger, and Marcelle Collin; and her late husband, Gerald Scarano.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Maglione of Iselin, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Vincent and his wife Natasha; Francesco and his wife Valerie; and Christina and her husband Joe; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ralph, Maximo, Nico, Mackenzie, Chelsea, and Wesley.  Simone is further survived by her dear friend Yvette Goeller, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews in France.

A Mass in honor of Simone will take place at St. Cecilia’s, 45 Wilus Way, Iselin, NJ church on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:15 am with a luncheon to follow.
