Sharon Lee (Hylton) Alonso entered into eternal rest on Saturday, 19 March 2022.  She was a resident of House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ. Sharon was best known as a pianist, playing for the contemporary Christian singing groups Friendly Folk and Together Again. She appears on four albums as keyboardist and vocalist and toured for several years throughout the US and in Europe. She also taught piano in California, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Virginia and served as church pianist in many churches over the last fifty years.

Sharon was born in Baldwinsville, NY but spent most of her youth in Liverpool, NY and graduated from Liverpool High School. She earned a Bachelor of Sacred Music from Nyack College in Nyack, NY majoring in Piano and Voice. Her parents were the late Lewis and Mary (Thomas) Hylton.

She is survived by her husband Steven; son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Loren Alonso of Chatham-Kent, Ontario; two sisters, Ruby Marsteller of Frederick, MD and JoAnne Fisher of Rocky Mount, VA; brother and sister-in-law Lewis and Cherie Hylton of Raleigh, NC plus nieces, nephew, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Cochran Funeral Home (cochranfuneral.com) 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 is in charge of the funeral arrangements. There will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be at 10 am, Saturday, 26 March 2022 at Hackettstown Baptist Church, 916 State Route 517, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Internment at Union Cemetery will follow immediately after the service and then all are invited back to the church for a memorial luncheon.

    So sorry to learn of Sharon’s passing. I still have precious and fond childhood memories of her after all these years. And am thankful that she had a loving husband, family, and friends.
