Joseph D. Alfieri, age 97, of Toms River, NJ died Friday, October 4, 2024 at Colonial Manor of Hackettstown, NJ. Joseph was born July 12, 1927 in East Orange, NJ to the late Mario and Josephine (Barbera) Alfieri. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angeline Alfieri and his brothers and sisters: Sal, Angie, Madeline, Frank, Tony, Carmella, Charlie, Rose and Carmen.
Joe served proudly in the US Army during World War II from 1945 to1947. Joe was previously employed by Essex County Sheriff’s Dept., Newark, NJ as a Detective for many years before his retirement.
Joe is survived by two daughters, Joanne McCauley and husband Mike, Virginia Suriano and husband Anthony, two sons, Joseph Alfieri and wife Karen, Michael Alfieri, a sister, Annette DalCortivo, six grandchildren, Michael, Shawn, Justin, Jaclyn, Russell and Amber, eight great grandchildren, Jared, Marcus, Caleigh, Gianna, Aleena, Alexandra, Zoe and John and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at promptly 1:30 pm at BG Wiilliam C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
