Allen, Scott M. November 5, 1972 - November 25, 2024

Date of Funeral

December 14, 2024

Scott Allen passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday November 25, 2024 in Hackettstown, NJ at the age of 52.

Scott was born on November 5, 1972 in Saginaw Michigan.   He spent most of his early childhood years in Michigan surrounded by friends, family and a special group of cousins, who will miss him greatly.  Scott moved with his Parents (Michael and Lee) and Sister (Kimberly) to Long Valley, NJ and attended West Morris High School.  Scott married Kelly James from Blairstown, NJ and together they had two beautiful children, Hannah Lee and Sean Thomas.  Although the marriage ended Scott and Kelly remained close friends.  Scott was very proud of his children and always spoke of their academic and athletic accomplishments.

As a child in Michigan, Scott was an avid skier.  He spent many days on the ski runs with his father while his mother and sister sat by the fire in the lodge. He continued on to be a member of his school ski team, eventually sharing his love for skiing with his children on the slopes of the Poconos. Scott enjoyed sports in general and played football and wrestled in High School.

He loved to work with his hands and was capable of designing and building almost anything.  For most of his adult life Scott performed specialty crating and packaging associated with high end moves.  He accepted the challenges each job presented and was proud of the work he performed. Scott worked in his sister’s family-owned business when needed.  During these times, he partnered with his nephew, Michael and they became very close.  They shared many stories together and during one of them, Scott told Michael that he loved building crates and wanted to be buried in one.  At Michael’s request, we are honoring that wish. The crate is being built with love by Scott’s longtime friends.

Scott was known as a gentle giant and will be remembered for his compassion, warm smiles and his famous hugs.  Scott was surrounded by love. He left two precious children Hannah, who is 17 and Sean, who is 14, a niece (Eva) and nephew (Michael) who loved him dearly, his sister Kimberly who never stopped believing in him and was always by his side, and Kim’s Husband Angelo who treated Scott like one of his brothers.

Scott was blessed to be bonded with Aunts, Uncles and a tightly aligned group of Cousins who know what it means to be an Allen! They will ensure that Scott and his children are not forgotten!

In addition to his family, Scott was fortunate to be embraced and supported by a unique band of friends who have been together for years and would do anything for each other.

Scott was predeceased by his Grandparents Don and Ruth Wallace, James and Valeta Allen, his devoted Mother Lee Allen, his Uncle Fred Castillo, Cousin and dear friend Brett Castillo and His Aunt Maureen (Kelly) Castillo, who recently passed and was, and now truly is, a very special angel to Scott and all of us.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at the Westin Governor Morris Hotel, 2 Whippany Rd Morristown, NJ on Saturday, December 14, at 12:30 pm.  In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to his Children’s Scholarship Fund via Zelle routed to mallen210@outlook.com.
