Salvatore “Pop Pop” Arnoa, 78, of Hackettstown passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Sal was born in Brooklyn and was raised most of his life in Rockaway. He owned Cafe DeSals with his wife Dee for 13 years. Sal loved to build and refurbish model boats as a hobby. He also loved fishing and spending time at the shore with his family. His favorite thing of all was spending time with his grandson Sal who he nicknamed “Buckaroo”.

He is predeceased by his wife, Duretha Arnoa, his parents, Georgina and Salvatore Arnoa, Sr., 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Valentine, Edward Schaepe, and 2 sisters-in-law, Sharon Rettas, and Patricia Schaepe.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Arnoa, and her partner Colleen Morrisroe, one grandson, Sal.  He is also survived by his sisters in law, Kathy Coppinger and Barbara Valentine, and brother in-law, Frank Coppinger and his nephew, Frank Coppinger “one who’s considered to be a brother to Lisa ” his wife Maria and daughter DJ, several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The visitation will take place at Cochran Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Cochran Funeral Home at 11:00am. Cremation will be private.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Compassionate Care, Budd Lake, NJ or to Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 in memory of Sal.

    Lisa, Sal, Frank, Kathy and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. Sal fought a long hard battle but he is at peace now and with Dee. We will never forget all out trips together with them and our long friendship.
