George C. Baldwin, 80, of Lewisport, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.
George was born on January 24, 1945 and spent the majority of his life in Mansfield, New Jersey. The oldest of five, he was the son of George A. Baldwin and Anna (Becker). George was raised on the family farm. He attended Hackettstown High School and was part of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). He was always a Ford lover, NEVER a Chevy. George later built his own home on a piece of that farmland and spent many years there before moving south. He was the mayor of Mansfield, both literally serving as mayor, and metaphorically in his love for being a part of the town happenings and knowing the people. He was also a member of the town council and planning board. George served for 30 years as a District Fire Warden for the NJ Forest Fire Service in Section A6. In June 1964, George joined the TriCounty Fire Company, became a lifetime member, and served as chief from 1979 – 1980. George was the Fair Chairman; he successfully ran the Tri-County Fair fundraiser for many years. George has been quoted as being “the driving force building the [new] firehouse”. George was proud to serve his community. George had a very successful career in construction and paving industry. Throughout his life, George was an avid hunter. He took great pride in his knowledge and experiences, and thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with others. On Sunday mornings, George could usually be found at church. He also enjoyed his garden and making his fresh tomato sauce and pesto. His furry canine companions, Debbie, Kahlua, and Samuel, always brought joy to his life.
George is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Baldwin, along with his three daughters, Michelle Enders, Sherri Rotondo, and Noelle Andreoli (Philip Jr.), and stepson, James Rendleman (Maria). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Kayla Aquilino (Tom), Alexis Rotondo, Daniel Rotondo, and Philip Andreoli III. George loved his children and grandchildren wholeheartedly.
George is predeceased by both his parents, brother (James), son-in-law, and his three fur babies.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Friday, May 16th from 10 am – 2 pm with services to begin at 1 pm. Following services the interment of ashes will be at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Karen Nash Memorial Butterfly Garden, c/o Diana Dove, 243 Windmill Court, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 in memory of George.

April 7, 2025 at 12:53 amOur sympathy to the entire Baldwin family. George was a great friend and I miss our times at the range, road trips, gun shows, and laughing about things. Our love of dogs was mutual. His staunch Republican conservatism was who he was. He will be truly missed by all.

April 8, 2025 at 11:03 amDear Baldwin Family
I was very sorry to read of George’s passing, he and I ran parallel terms he in Mansfield, myself in Hackettstown on both Town Council & Fire Departments, He truly loved Mansfield Twp, and left it better than when he started.
I am sure my words will fall short of easing the pain you are going through, we will pray to our FATHER in Heaven to provide the comfort HE alone can provide.
In Christ Alone
