Susan Ellen (Halliwell) Beetar, 71, of Schooleys Mountain, NJ and North Topsail Beach, NC, passed on peacefully, on November 28, 2021 at Hackettstown Medical Center with family by her side, after her stunningly courageous battle with cancer.
Suellen was born to the late George and Regina (Olkiewicz) Halliwell in Jersey City, NJ on January 9, 1950. She graduated from St. Dominic’s Academy in Jersey City in 1967 and began working in New York City, working most of her life in dental office management.
She married the late Joseph Beetar in June of 1969, and they lived a beautiful life together until his death in 2017. They both had a love for travel, going to the Caribbean annually, exploring parts of the South and the East Coast, or spending time at their beach house in North Carolina. Suellen truly thought she was a misplaced Southerner and had the cutest little accent to prove it. She felt strongly that it was a mistake she was born in New Jersey. They both also shared a love of (loud) music and dancing, love of their grandchildren, and the most amazing ability to laugh. During every trial and tribulation, they used laughter as the means to get through it.
Suellen is survived by her 2 loving and absolutely devastated daughters: Jennifer Beetar-Speth (husband Paul) of Changewater, NJ; and Andrea Blomquist (husband Edward) of Columbia, NJ. She is also survived by her 4 beloved grandchildren: Augustus Blomquist, Matelyne Blomquist, John Speth, and Addison Speth. They all knew how very special they were to her and as the most amazing Mimi ever, she was able to make each of them feel as if they were the center of her world. As her health declined, she embraced every moment she could with them and was heartbroken that time would be cut short. She is also survived by her brother George Halliwell and family of Howell, NJ; her brother-in-law John Beetar of Charlotte, NC; her best friend Donna Free of Toms River, NJ; and countless other family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her beloved friends.
There will be a celebration of Suellen’s life scheduled for this coming spring. The family will make the arrangements available as they are finalized. Arrangements were handled under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, Hackettstown, NJ
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to your local cancer center or women’s cancer support service of your choice.
