Vincent J. Cammisa (Vinny) of Green Township passed away on Saturday July 10, 2021. Vinny was born August 24, 1962 in Paterson, NJ. He was the son of Angelo Cammisa of Klamath Falls, OR and Marylou Cammisa of PA.
Vinny had the best job, he was a stay-at-home Dad, and since 2003 he was a volunteer on the Green Township Fire Department as the Fire Police Chief. Vinny loved, with all his heart, his wife and children, Mr. Zeke, his family and friends, more than can be expressed in words. Everyone he met was his friend forever, his oldest, special friends Glenn & Lisa Kincaid, Dave Miller, his “old-fashioned” partner in crime, Bob Oliver, his pal, Bu, his crazy Italian brother, Chris Laken, and so many others that touched his life, and his heart forever. He was extremely dedicated to Green Township Fire Department, and proud of his role as Fire Police Chief representing the township.
During his short time working in NY as a marble mason helper, at the age of 24, he was injured, and sadly, he suffered endlessly for the rest of his life. Even through illness and pain, he still tried hard to make the best of his life, and especially the life of his precious children. He never complained, he didn’t have a bad bone in his body, he was a true Giver, and always wanted to help people, any time, any place, with any thing that came his way. Just ask him and he’d find it, a spare car part, nuts or bolts, flashlights, lots of flashlights, anything might be in that garage, and anything “old” he would tell you “Don’t throw that out, it will be worth money someday”.
Vinny is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patti, daughter Maria & wife Jennine, son Vincent & fiancé Nina Castiglione, and his loyal, always protective pal, Mr. Zeke. In addition, Vinny leaves behind his brother & sister in laws, Anthony Ippolito & Valerie Ippolito, Michael & Laura Ippolito, Mother-in-law, Frances Ippolito, his most special niece Sofia, cousins Gina Van Baulen, Carla Demarest, their families and many family members & friends.
At this time of sadness, I would like to express my deep appreciation for all the family and friends that have supported me and my children over the years, and have shown so much love for Vin. Knowing he was loved, is a blessing, and means so much to me and my children. I miss him, but I know that he is no longer suffering and is now at peace.
Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4 – 8 pm.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:30 am followed by interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Green Township, NJ.

July 12, 2021 at 6:56 pmVinny and I had a special relationship that spanned around 24 years. In all that time every topic was covered. With all of his health problems it was his secret diet that kept him alive. Someday science will validate how good it is. Three food groups…. coffee, bagels and cigarettes. He was a good man, the best. I will never forget him. As much as we all miss him, I am glad that he is no longer in pain.

July 13, 2021 at 4:42 pmUncle Vincent, I’ll always remember our talks in your driveway. How you joked that I got “jipped” because of my short toes. I’ll always remember staying with you at your old house in PA and learning about the best movie ever made (red dawn). The memories can go on and on… But most of all, I’m grateful for having had a fantastic uncle in my life. You may not have known it, but you were one of the reasons enlisted and helped me pick the path that I did. I’m sorry I lost touch the past few years and wish I could have talked to you one last time… Something I’ll always regret. I hope you know that your nephews, niece, and sister will forever miss and love you.
Your nephew,
-Ryan

July 14, 2021 at 12:06 amUncle Vincent…where to begin.
I think about you nearly every time I eat a bagel and fancy the idea of owning a deli.
How about the time I slept over and Vinny and I found you in the kitchen in the middle of the night melting cheese over a tortilla in the oven lol.
I wonder if he remembers that night too?
I’ve carried that recipe and memory with me ever since. I’ve told my wife about that many times and I can’t wait to recreate that moment with my daughter one late night.
My brother Ryan may have been “jipped” for his short toes but you told me I got on the wrong line for my elf ears and I missed the line for my neck lol
Things I’ll never forget.
Thank you for always making me and everyone else laugh. You were the funniest person to us all.
Although you’re gone, your humor, jokes, love and personality will live on and be passed down forever.
I love you
Your nephew,
-Carl

July 20, 2021 at 1:16 pmMany people lost a friend, brother, father and role model the day Vin passed. He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts. When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind. Vin you always made me laugh and every time I think of you I will always be smiling. You were not only my brother-in-law but a great friend!

July 20, 2021 at 4:57 pmDear Patti and family,
There is never a right time for a loved person to reach heaven and it is always too early when it happens. I do wish you all the strength needed to go through this time of grief and pain. I’m sure the time will come where the good memories about Vin will allow you to look to a future in which you will be able to again enjoy your life accompanied by Vin in your hearts.
