On June 15, 2022, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, James P. Collins, Jr., (82), passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce (Bennett) Collins and daughters Denese Collins Bertone and Tracy Collins, to whom he dedicated his life.
James was born, January 29, 1940, in Jersey City, New Jersey, lived in Rockaway Township, NJ for 39 years before moving to Hackettstown in 2004. He was a graduate of St. Michael’s, Union City, New Jersey, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Pace University, New York, NY. He worked for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for 40 years, proudly participating in the Youth Mentor Program there, before retiring as the Director of Equity Marketing and Sales. As a multi-facetted man, he was a former member of the N.J. Rifle and Pistol Club, once an avid hunter, and frequently visited Lincoln Center where he indulged his passion for classical music.
In addition to his wife and daughters, previously mentioned, he is survived by his beloved Granddaughters, whom he adored with all his heart, and showered with positivity and love, Peyton, Emily, Courtney (Keil), and Nicole; Grandson, Kyle; Great-Grandchildren, Lilyanna, and Levi; and Son-in-Law Joseph Bertone.
James was predeceased by his father, James P. Collins, Sr., his mother Raffae Collins and Mother-in-Law Maybelle Hildebrant.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:30 am at Church of the Assumption, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Entombment will take place at Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Mountain Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in James’ name.
