Mabel K. Cullum, age 88, of Hackettstown passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Colonial Manor of Hackettstown, NJ. Mabel was born December 21,1933 in Summit, NJ to the late Arthur Paul and Margaret (Smith) Von Almen. In addition to her parents Mabel is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas and sister, Susan “Bunny” Egger.
Mabel lived in Randolph, NJ raising her family for 30+ years. As an active member of the community and Randolph PTA, Mabel was always volunteering and lending her artistic talents where needed. As an involved member of First Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dover, Mabel served many years as a Deacon, helping and aiding members of the church. After retiring, Mabel and Doug first spent 1 year by the beach in Delaware before moving to Toms River, NJ. Keeping active, she worked part time at the home field stadium of the Lakewood Blue Claws. Thoroughly enjoying her time there meeting new people and seeing the exciting events and ball games from the side lines, she happily worked until she was 82. Mabel always continued to express herself artistically by sketching and painting nature scenes. She loved the outdoors and all things related to nature which was sparked when as a young girl she would spend time at a family home in Saxton Falls and often spend a summer’s day canoeing up the Musconetcong River.
She is survived by her two sons, Willard “Bill” Cullum and wife Catherine and Russell Cullum and wife Dawn in addition to her two daughters, Susan Blunschi and husband Daniel and Katherine Cullum and significant other Andrew Speranzini.
Visitation hours will take place Saturday, January 15th from 10 am – 1 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm. A luncheon will follow afterwards at a location to be announced in the near future.
