Dalton Francis Feller, 92 On July 15, 2020 Dalton F. Feller passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 92. He was surrounded by those closest to him and had a wonderful meal for dinner.
Dalt was born on August 6, 1927 in Vienna, New Jersey and joined the U.S Navy in 1944, just days after turning 17. He served aboard a LST on which he crossed the Pacific Ocean several times and survived multiple typhoons. He was en route to Japan on August 6, 1945 when the first atomic bomb dropped – his entire family is indebted to his safe return home.
He married the love of his life, Carol Young, on January 15, 1954. The day of his passing they celebrated 66.5 years of marriage, laughter and countless adventures. Dalt was a loving father of two delightful children, Susan Feller [Jim Lilly] of Augusta, WV and John Feller [Linda] of Port Murray, NJ. Although he was known as Grandpa Dalt by many, his grandchildren, Kevin Feller of Deptford, NJ and Julianne [Feller] O’Connell [Sean] of Hoboken, NJ were his pride and joy.
Dalt and Carol traveled the world together and cherished every moment. He was a hunter, a life member of VFW 6701, a life member of the Port Murray Fire Department, the President and Trustee of the Port Murray Cemetery Association and a member of Belvidere United Methodist Church. In recent years Dalt and Carol enjoyed traveling locally, spending time with their family and friends and sharing a good meal.
In addition to the above, he is survived by his sister-in-law Jean Feller of Houston, TX, beloved nieces Kate [Feller] Howell [Mike] of Houston, TX and Beth [Feller] Miles [Don] of Houston, TX; Shelly [Young] Mule [Vincent] of Easton, PA and nephew Jeffrey Young of Gettysburg, PA. He is predeceased by his father Francis H. Feller, mother Aleta Susan Dietz of Vienna, NJ and brother Warren Feller of Houston, TX.
Dalt was a proud patriot who respected the flag his entire life. He passionately believed that every person in this country deserved life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Given the current pandemic, services will be kept to immediate family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Port Murray Cemetery Association [PO Box 186] in honor of a life well lived.

July 19, 2020 at 10:04 pmMrs. Feller and family,
Fred and I send our sincere condolences to you and your family during this sad time.
Your husband was such a inspiration to all who was fortunate enough to have crossed paths with you and your husband.
Mr. Feller was such a caring and loving friend to my father in law, Frederick S.Perry. I know dad loved talking with Dalt and reminicing about the “good old days” of living and volunteering for the Mansfield Twp. Fire Department. I am sure they are catching up now!!
We pray that all of your loving and happy memories help you thru the sad and difficult days.
Thank you Mr. Feller for not only serving our country, but also for the love and care you bestowed to everyone that crossed your path. May you rest in eternal love and peace.
Fred and Maryann (Davis) Perry

July 20, 2020 at 4:35 pmCarol, I Loved seeing Dalt in SR—we would kid and one of us, inevitably, would say, “we have to stop meeting like this”! Although, I have missed seeing and speaking with you and Dalt for quite some time, I have thought of you. I always enjoyed speaking with Dalt, who was fun, smart, interesting and just a fine man. God Bless You for always being there for him in sickness and in health. You were his strength.
