De Marco, Louise June 21, 1942 - January 25, 2022

Louise “Weezy” Ellen De Marco (Malmeister) was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She left this world peacefully with her beloved family by her side on January 25, 2022.

She was born in Manhattan, NY to John and Eila Malmeister on June 21, 1942.  Raised in Hohokus NJ shemet the love of her life and soulmate Bill De Marco during high school.  The two eloped in the summer of 1960 which began a legacy of love that spanned the course of 65 years. Together they had three children, Dawn, Bill and Lisa.

Louise had many endearing qualities but is most known for her kind, compassionate and giving nature. She was deeply devoted to her family and received the greatest joy and pleasure when she was caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and pets.

She was a most gracious host and loved to entertain large gatherings of family and friends for parties and holidays. The back door was always open at the De Marcos and Louise was most happiest sitting around her kitchen table with neighbors and friends on Sunday morning with coffee, or a glass of homemade wine during happy hour.

A lover of life and all living beings, Louise was a strong advocate for animals and supported many animal rights and rescue organizations.  She was a vegetarian for most of her life.  She had countless pets over the years and would be the first one to take in a stray or stop and care for an animal in need.

A diehard Days of our Lives fan Louise watched the soap opera every day from its very first episode.  Also a music lover, both her and Bill enjoyed going to concerts and live performances of local musicians over the years. They loved to sing and dance together.

Louise is survived by her beloved husband Bill De Marco, her loving daughter Dawn Elizabeth Lorusso (Marc), her loving son William John De Marco (Susan Armstrong) and her loving daughter Lisa Louise De Marco.  She is predeceased by her dear father John Malmeister, her dear mother Eila Marjatta Malmeister (Kallio) and her dear sister Eleanor Schreyer.  She is also survived by her beloved sisters Nancy Mann and Joan De Raffele and her beloved brother John Malmeister.  Louise is also survived by her dear grandchildren Lindsay D’Agostino (Eli), Melissa Nesbit (Ashley) and Glen Jobeless, as well as her great-grandchildren Caleb, Evie, Winter, Silas, Temperance and Briar, and her cats Dickie and Harry.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022  from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Independence Fire Hall at 24 Cemetery Road, Great Meadows, NJ.  If anyone would like to make a donation in Louise’s honor we ask that you do so to a local animal rescue or shelter, or the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice organization.

At 17 years old, I “ran away from home” to stay at my friend’s Bill’s house. I can’t remember how long I actually stayed whether it was a few weeks or a month but the kindness, love and wisdom that this incredible Angel showed to me will never ever be forgotten. When they use the expression heaven has another angel, it could never be more true as it is in the loss of Mrs. Demarco. You certainly made the world a better place and I am truly honored to have been the recipient of your love and kindness so many years ago.
