Michael Demkowicz, age 96, of Hackettstown died Friday, June 23, 2023 at Heath Village of Hackettstown, N.J. Michael was born September 24, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ. He is the son of the late Andrew and Katherine Demkowicz.

The youngest of six brothers and sisters, Michael Demkowicz has departed us to be with the rest of his family.

Born and raised in Scranton PA and Jersey City NJ, his parents immigrated to the US from Austria.

Predeceased by his wife of 55 years – Eleanor and son Richard,

He is survived by his sons Greg and Randy, Daughters-In-law Denise and Mary and 4 grandchildren.

“Pop-Pop” is a decorated veteran of WWII, receiving medals for “Army Of Occupation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Good Conduct and WWII Victory”. He was a machinist and mechanic during his working years.

“Gam Pa” loved cats, enjoyed fishing, cooking, making wine, travelling (he even stood within 5 feet of the Pope!) going for walks and picnics at Swartwood Lake. Dad took us fishing to the Jersey shore and many streams and lakes. We went on bicycle rides, got ice cream at the mall and he taught us how to fix things. You’ll always be in our thought’s dad. We love you and miss you.
